March has been a very busy month with a Career Day targeting interested grade 9 learners from the school. This was followed by an assessment day to determine natural abilities of the learners who showed an interest to follow a technical career path and who registered onto the database.
The month ended off with VAMCOSA industry members visiting the school to clean, assess and maintain the current school workshop equipment to ensure that the learners are able to make the best of the second school term in April.
The morning was attended by Mrs T Moreriane, the Technical Teacher at the school, a group of twelve Grade 11 learners who are very keen to support this initiative assisted with cleaning the equipment with VAMCOSA Industry members, before the VAMCOSA Industry Maintenance Fitter and Turner, Jan Venter inspected each machine to provide a comprehensive report to Industry.
What the learners have taken home from today:
Change the oil every 6 months to ensure the machines are kept in good condition.
Make sure the machine is switched off before you start with maintenance work.
Next term promises to be exciting when the mentoring process starts at the school with Industry and the GED working hand in hand to promote good work practices and excellent practical guidance to the school learners from grade 10 to Matric.
