Regional Market Development and Opportunities to Advance Exports for Mineral Processing Equipment

The SAMPEC Technology Development Working Group, spearheaded by Hoosen Essack and Dr. Marian Lydall (Mintek), co-authored a paper entitled “Regional Market Development and Opportunities to Advance Exports for Mineral Processing Equipment Firms in South Africa”. 

The paper was presented at the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) first Economic Research Advisory Network (ERAN) conference held in East London on the 10th and 11th March 2016.

Learners Of Fumana Comprehensive School Discover A Bright Future

Members of the VAMCOSA cluster hosted a day with the learners of the Fumana Comprehensive School at their workplace. Approximately 60 learners at 6 company sites acquired knowledge in the day to day activities of the different companies within the cluster. 

Each mechanical learner, from grade 10 to matric, was given the opportunity to choose a company they were interested in obtaining more information and understanding of its activities. Amongst those chosen were Dual ValvesAinsworth EngineeringMiTechCobra Water TechPaltech and RGR Technologies.

Solar-geyser manufacturers taking steps to revive flagging sector

South Africa’s Solar Water Heating Manufacturers Cluster of South Africa (SWH-Mancosa) is taking active steps to reinvigorate the solar-geyser sector, which has been left in a “precarious” position following the termination of the Eskom rebate programme in April and delays to the introduction of successor programmes that are to be administered by the Department of Energy (DoE).

SWH-Mancosa chairperson Mike Breckenridge tells Engineering News Online that the organisation, which represents more than 90% of all local solar-geyser manufacturers and component suppliers, has adopted a proactive stance in an effort to find viable solutions to the current impasse.
