BME OSM to Germany for Subcontracting
JOIN THE DTI ON AN OUTWARD SELLING MISSION TO BERLIN, GERMANY TO PROMOTE SUB-CONTRACTING BY SOUTH AFRICAN SUPPLIERS TO GERMAN AND EUROPEAN FIRMS; AND TO ATTEND THE BME SYMPOSIUM AND EXHIBITION. THE MISSION WILL TAKE PLACE FROM 10 – 17 NOVEMBER 2018
The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) invites South African firms in the electronics-, metals- ICT and logistics services sectors to apply to be part of an Outward Selling Mission to Germany to promote sub-contracting and supply of goods and services into the automotive-, aeronautics-, rail-, energy and industrial engineering industries. This mission is aimed at promoting integration of South African businesses into the global value chains of German and European multinationals. The trade mission is part of the dti’s objective to create market access for South African products in markets with potential to enhance the export composition. SA companies who have supplied products to German and European companies with experience in local content specifications are strongly encouraged to apply. The delegates forming part of the mission will also attend the Bundesverband Materialwirtschaft, Einkauf und Logistik (BME) Symposium and Exhibition in Berlin taking place from 14-16 November 2018.
The BME Symposium: The BME which was founded in 1954, is the leading professional association for supply chain managers, buyers and logistics specialists in Germany and Central Europe with more than 9200 individual and cooperate members. More information can be found on the following website https://www.bme.de/en/all-even... .The Association indicated that they are open to the idea of establishing a relationship with South Africa in order to integrate industrial / semi-finished products into the supply chain of German companies.
Mission Dates: 10 – 17 NOVEMBER 2018 (Departure 10 November and arrive back in SA on 18 November).
The deadline date for the submission of complete EMIA Outward Selling Missions application forms is 24 August 2018.
Assistance is provided to qualifying South African exporters to introduce South African products into foreign markets, in a cost effective manner. the dti will offer the following financial support to qualifying firms:
- Economy class return airfare to a maximum of R17,000.00 for BOE’s and SMME’s and 50% of the Economy class return airfare to a maximum of R8,500.00 for Other Sized firms
- Daily subsistence allowance of R3,000.00 per day
- Excess baggage allowance to a maximum of R2,000.00 per approved firm, for the transport of promotional material and samples
- Business to business meetings for participants

Why participate in this outward selling mission?
Germany was South Africa’s 3rd largest export market in 2017 with exports of nearly R84 billion, of which approximately 70% are value-added products. The dti has partnered with the SA German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and BME in organising this mission. Delegates will attend the BME Symposium where they will have B-2-B meetings with potential partners and also have meetings with German institutions and participate in relevant site visits during the two days prior to the Symposium.
This outward selling mission will facilitate networking with the key stakeholders and decision-makers in the targeted sectors and build relationships with potential customers, who are members of BME.
